Herbal Fire Cider Tonic Made with Apple Cider Vinegar

Equipment

  • 1 Quart (32oz) Mason Jar

Ingredients
  

  • 1- 1 1/2 lemons rinsed, cleaned and quartered
  • 1 onion large chopped in quarters, yellow or red doesn't matter
  • 1-5 Hot Peppers roughly chopped cayenne, chili, jalapeno - as little or much as you'd like
  • 5-10 cloves of garlic crushed or roughly chopped
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tbsp black peppercorns
  • 2-4 ginger (based on preference) roughly chopped. Can use ground ginger (1 tsp)
  • 2-3 Rosemary fresh springs (1tsp dried)
  • 2-3 Thyme fresh springs (1tsp dried)
  • 2-3 Oregano fresh springs (1tsp dried)
  • Raw apple cider vinegar enough to cover ingredients
  • ~1/2 cup raw honey to taste AFTER straining in 3-6 weeks.

Instructions
 

  • Place all chopped ingredients and fresh springs into a glass quart jar.
  • Pour raw apple cider vinegar over the ingredients until fully submerged.
  • Seal the jar with a plastic lid or place parchment paper under a metal lid to prevent corrosion.
  • Shake well, then store in a cool, dark place for 3–6 weeks, shaking daily.
  • Strain out the solids using cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer.
  • Stir in raw honey to taste and transfer the finished fire cider into clean glass bottles.
  • Take 1-2 Tbsp daily as a herbal fire cider wellness tonic.
