Tips for the Best Homemade Focaccia

  • Use a well-oiled pan: This gives the bottom that classic crispy texture.
  • Don’t skimp on the olive oil—it adds flavor and helps with browning.
  • Let it rest properly between stretches for a light and airy crumb.
  • Use your fingertips (not your palms) when making the signature divots.

Focaccia Bread Serving & Storage Suggestions

  • Serve warm with soup, chili, or pasta.
  • Slice it horizontally and use it for gourmet sandwiches.
  • Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Freeze slices individually, then reheat in the oven for fresh-baked flavor anytime.

Variations to Try

  • Mediterranean: Olives, cherry tomatoes, rosemary, and feta.
  • Cheesy Jalapeño: Sharp cheddar and sliced hot peppers.
  • Herb Garden: Fresh thyme, oregano, and basil with garlic.
  • Sweet & Savory: Caramelized onions with a drizzle of balsamic glaze.

Try adding different liquids other than just water. Our favourite focaccia bread is when we add about 150g of our left over fermented hot sauce brine and cut the water down to 300g. It gives the bread a tangy spicy zesty flavour that is unmatched to any other.

Absolutely. Slice it into portions before freezing so you can reheat just what you need.

What’s the best flour for focaccia bread?

All-purpose flour works perfectly, but bread flour will give you a slightly chewier texture if you prefer.
